Stories from the Arts Festival at Holy Nativity 2015

Peoples memories from the Arts Festival event at Holy Nativity in May 2015.
Television Programmes
David Jason (real name David White), of Only Fools and Horse fame had a brother, Arthur White who lived above the hairdressers shop run by Joy Beaumont at the top of the Avenue.
The White Admiral pub at Bevendean found fame when it was used, in an episode called "Mother Natures Son", as the set for the Nag's Head in the BBC's Only Fools And Horses series staring David Jason.
The allotments behind Southall Avenue were also used in this episode as the site of Peckham Springs. Water from this was bottled and sold as Peckham Spring water.
David Jason and his brother Arthur White both appeared in the program “A Touch of Frost” where David played Detective Inspector Jack Frost. Arthur played the occasional role of the police archivist Ernie Trigg.

Money in the Cow Meadow
When the roads only went to the ends of Upper and Lower Bevendean Avenue, there was a gate to the cow meadow belonging to Bevendean Farm. Courting couples used to go into the fields and lay in the grass. Enterprising boys went into the field after the couples had left to find money which had fallen out of trouser pockets.
