Clifford Tidy remembers Building the roads in Bevendean
My neighbour and allotment pal Clifford Tidy, who has lived in Plymouth
Avenue since 1968, has drawn my attention to the photograph of a
bulldozer and 12 yard scraper box working on the infrastructure of the
estate in 1948.

Cliff grew up in Hurstpierpoint, and would have been about 10 years old at the time the photo was taken.

The bulldozer carries the name S M TIDY - Cliff's uncle, who also worked on the construction of the Coldean estate.An earth scraper on the Bevendean Estate in 1948.
