St Andrews Church, Moulsecoomb - part 2

East End of the Church
Originally there was a tiled panel behind the main altar with curtains on either side as shown below.

Improvements to the East End of St Andrew’s Church
The new east end was dedicated by Bishop Warde on Easter Eve, 21st April 1962 at 7.30 pm. The replacement consisted of a central cornice and curtain; a side cornice and curtains, a cross and carved Christus Rex Figure; an altar carpet and kneeler as shown in the photo below.

New Altar and Platform
The new Nave Altar was consecrated by the Bishop of Chichester on the 30th November 1988.
The Altar stands on a platform which was built at the same time and was first used on the 23rd October 1988. The reason for this change was to bring the clergy and altar closer to the congregation.

Church Organ
There are two plagues on the organ. One has the text: - ‘This plaque is in recognition of 51 years of dedicated service by A. W. Barber organist of this church from 1928 until his retirement in 1979’. The text on the second plaque: - ‘This organ was resited and refurbished in memory of David John Smart organist of the church from 1978 – 1988. In God we trust’.
