Hodshrove Farm - William and Thomas Pavey

William Pavey
Census records show that William was born at Rotherfield about 1834 possibly in Cath Cottage at Rotherfield, Sussex.
He married Lydia Mapham at Wadhurst on 27 April 1856. Lydia came from Egham or Englefield in Surrey.
Lydia died in 1878 and the death was registered at Lewes, Sussex.
William then married Florence Mapham who also came from Egham in Surrey on 25 December 1888 at the church in Falmer, Sussex.
Florence died soon after the 1901 census was taken and William then married Ada Allen at Newhaven.
Census records show William living at Hodshrove farm in 1891 and 1901; by 1911 he had moved to Elm Farm in Patcham.

Thomas Pavey
Records show that Thomas was born on the 23 December 1896 probably at Hodshrove Farm, Falmer, Sussex.
The 1911 census records show he was still at Hodshrove Farm, 15 years old and his occupation was given as farmer’s boy working on farm.
He married Grace Nelly Matilda Glennister in the October quarter of 1918 at Brighton.
Grace Glennister was born on 26 September 1898 probably at 1 Fields Cottage East Finchley, Barnett. She was baptised at Holy Trinity Church in Finchley on 6 November 1898.
In 1939 Thomas was living at Home Farm in South Cambridgeshire with Grace where he was working as a gamekeeper.
He died on 19 June 1975 with the death registered in the Norwich Outer registration district.
Grace Nelly Matilda Pavey died on 12 September 1976 in the village of Bergh Apton, Norwich, Norfolk.
The 1911 census records show he was still at Hodshrove Farm, 15 years old and his occupation was given as farmer’s boy working on farm.
