The first two years of the project - continued

6. Bevendean Farm in 1930s
The Project has been given photographs of the valley and farm
from the 1930s which we have used on the website. You would not
recognise the scene here today. The dog would be standing in the middle
of a road with bungalows on either side, the farm buildings are no more
and the land is a green play area for children. Behind the trees on the
left is the site of the local primary school.

7. Frank Allcorn Ploughing at Lower Bevendean in 1930s
One of the photographs from the Allcorn archive shows Frank John Allcorn, Norman’s grandfather ploughing with horses in the 1930s.

8. Bevendean Farm House in 1930s
The main farmhouse is behind the three-storey annex shown in this photograph. Norman Allcorn told us that the Shepherd, Norris and his family, lived in the annex while the farmer and his family lived in the main farmhouse on the other side.
