The Domesday Book of 1086 recorded the manor of Bevendean, 'Beofa's
valley', to be worth £6 and held by one Walter from William de
Warrene.
1533 Reference to Bevynden Farm in a Will for John Levitt, dated 22 October, 1533. Probate granted 11 May 1535.
1639 Indenture - Thomas Covert of Slaugham owned all that farme and land thereon to belong ralled Bevingdoune with the apportionment in the parish of Falmer in the said County of Sussex. He also owns several other properties & estates.
1735 A lease of Bevingdeane Farm to John Wade of Alfriston; owner Elizabeth Goose of South Heighton, guardian for Charles Goose in his minority.
Rent £130 per anon. Terms 13 years to commence Michaelmas 1735.
Indenture made on 10th day of March in the 12th year of the reign of our Sovereign George.

1768 Indenture dated 1 August 1768 between Rev George Newton of Isfield in the County of Sussex and his wife Elizabeth & William Mirboll Esq. (Rev George Newton was the Vicar of Isfield from 1755 to 1791).
1773 Assignment of mortgage dated 6 October 1773; Mr John Payne & Mr Newton to Samuel Durrant Esq.

1876 Charles Beard of Rottingdean, gent to George Wood of 91 St James Street, Brighton, gent and Edwin Weller of Bedford St., Brighton, dairyman. Cottage in 2 tenements with barn, stable, granary, farm and lands in Falmer called New Barn Farm (250a) being the eastern portion of Bevendean Farm in occupation of Charles and Jesse Gander.

1883 Bevendean Farm Owner: Steyning Beard; Tenant: Woolley C.
1905 Owned by Steyning Beard and the Lower Bevendean Farm was leased to William Aylwin. Mr Steyning Beard was the village Squire of Rottingdean and owner of the three thousand acre Rottingdean Farm. This had been gradually acquired and enlarged by a long line of his forebears, all Quakers, going back to the sixteenth century.
1909 Owner was Steyning Beard and the farm was leased to Mr F. J. Allcorn. Steyning Beard died 13 December 1909.

1913 Brighton Corporation purchased the Lower Bevendean Farm with an area of about 279 acres from the estate of Steyning Beard. Farm was leased to Mr F. J. Allcorn.
1942 Tenancy of Lower Bevendean Farm relinquish in September 1942 by F. J. Allcorn when Brighton Corporation needed the land for houses and a new primary school.
