Stalls have been arranged by the various church organisations, and will be stocked with a large and varied assortment of useful and fancy articles; there will also be many amusement and competitions.
The Bazaar will be officially opened at 11 a.m. by Lady Swabey, under the chairmanship of the vicar, the Rev W. R. Newton.
The parish of Stanmer, with Falmer and Moulsecoomb, is the largest in the diocese, and the parish church has to help in the support of the daughter churches.
Two of these, the Church of the Holy Nativity, Lower Bevendean, and St Mary Magdalen, Coldean, I converted barns, and are situated in the new housing areas St Andrews itself, started life in the early 1920s in an old army hut, when Moulsecoomb itself was a new housing area. It is important that the parish church should be able to assist the other centres activity, and it is with this end in view that the bazaar is being held.

It was the first time the church as stage of Bazaar in the Moulsecoomb Hall and it was a great success.
The opening ceremony was performed by Lady Swabey who praised the stallholders on the gay appearance of the stalls.

Lady Swabey takes a tart from the “Queen of Hearts” stall at the St Andrews Bazaar, in Moulsecoomb Hall on Saturday.
She was introduced by the Vicar, the Rev. W. R. Newton, who spoke of the needs of the parish, the largest in the diocese, with 30,000 people in Moulsecoomb, Bevendean, Coldean, Stanmer and Falmer.
The vicar was supported by the churchwardens (Mr R. H. Bean and Mr F. G. Carter), Mrs Bean and Mrs Carter, Mr Dick Powell (secretary) and Miss Barbara Ball, the organiser.
There were many competitions and amusements, and prizes were presented in the evening by council Mrs E. M. Hider.

REORGANISATION AREAS MEASURE, 1944.
Pursuant
to the Reorganisation Areas Measure, 1944, the Church Commissioners
hereby give notice that they have made an Order confirming a Scheme for
effecting the rearrangement of the pastoral supervision of the parishes
of Brighton ; Saint Mary Magdalene, Brighton; Saint Mary, Brighton;
Saint James, Brighton; Saint Michael and All Angels, Brighton; All
Saints, Brighton; Saint Stephen, Brighton; Saint Margaret, Brighton;
Saint Luke, Brighton ; Saint Andrew, Moulsecoomb; Stanmer; and Falmer
all situate in the diocese of Chichester.
Copies of the Order and of the Scheme may be obtained at the office of the Chichester Diocesan, Reorganisation Committee, Diocesan Church House, 9, Brunswick Square, Hove.

The parish was united with Stanmer and Falmer from 1956 until 1976. From around 1956 to 1982 the parish was called Stanmer with Falmer and Moulsecoomb.
The Vicar reported that:-
1. Institution took place on 12 February to the benefice of Stanmer-with-Falmer and Moulsecoomb at St Laurence Church, Falmer.
2. Legal position as follows:-
a). One PCC to represent the whole of the united parish.
b). The two Churchwardens would represent the whole of the united parish, but each district would have its own deputy warden and its own committee.
3. The annual meeting will be held on Tuesday 3rd April when the Wardens will be elected and representatives to the Diocesan and Ruridecanal Council vacancies at St Andrews will be elected.
The overall council to meet four times a year will be made up of representatives from each district i.e. St Andrews, St Mary Magdalen, The Holy Nativity, St Georges, Falmer and Stanmer.
4. The Rectory will be divided into 2 parts, one for a possible retired priest to assist on Sundays.
5. Quota: Each area must pay their part and a contribution to the Assistant Curate Fund where possible.

Moulsecombe Effort for Church Funds
TODAY’S BAZAAR
The
Moulsecombe Hall in the Highway will be a hive of activity today. The
occasion is the Christmas Bazaar and sale of work in aid of the funds
of St Andrew’s Church, and the members are hoping for a record

£400 RAISED AT MOULSECOMBE
St. Andrews Beat Bazaar Target
More
than £400 was raised for parish funds at the Christmas Bazaar and
sale of work of St Andrew’s Church, Moulsecoomb on Saturday. The
