Newspaper Articles for St Andrews Church 1953

The central point of the service was the dedication by the Archdeacon of Lewes (the Ven. J. H. L. Morrell) of an aumbry given by Mr and Mrs Chadwick in memory of their parents.
It will be used to reserve the sacrament for the sick. Evensong was led by the Vicar (Rev. W. R. Newton), the lesson was read by the priest Rev. C. H. Bess.

With £96 still to be raised, excitement mounted high at the church hall on Thursday—the second day of a bazaar and exhibition, final event, of the campaign—as the hands of the clock moved on towards 9 p.m., zero hour.
Then the announcement was made: The target has been beaten by £12. With more money still to come in, the total result of the efforts is thought likely to be £375. The bazaar was officially opened by Mrs S. Canadine, organiser of the St. Richard’s rally attended by the Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. G. Fisher) last June.
The chairman was the Rev. G. Mayfield, who was supported by the Vicar of St Andrew’s, the Rev. W. R. Newton.
