SUSSEX PARK PURCHASE APPROVED
Approval from the Ministry of Health was received by Brighton on
Saturday to purchase the 5,000 acre Chichester Estate, between Brighton
and Lewes.
Cost of the purchase is in the neighbourhood of £250,000.
Revealing the news, Alderman B. Dutton Bryant, Chairman of the Finance Committee, said the War Office would require only 10 acres, to be used to the recreational training of troops at Preston barracks.
Detailed requirements would now been made to Brighton Corporation, he added, and would no doubt be settled in an amicable manner.
