Dear Steyning,

Bevendean Farm

In reply to your letter of the 25th instant, I wrote to Mister Creswell as arranged telling him that the pricey offered was too low but if he would make me a close offer I would submit same. I have received no reply from him.

I make the acreage of the Farm, including the narrow strip of Downland & the small piece of Wood on the West side, 305 acres, of which 250 a, 2r, 2p, are Arable and land laid down to Pasture by Guy, 33a, 2r, 30p, Downland, 20 a, 1r, 1p, Pasture & 2r, 7p Wood.

I enclose tracing showing the piece of land proposed to be taken away from the Farm the total acreage of which is 21a, 2r, 8p, as coloured Green on tracing. The portion coloured Pink is the land that you thought should be retained with the Farm.

The areas of the respective enclosures are as follows.

Number 1 - 16a, 1r, 3p,

Number 2 - 5a, 1r, 5p,

Number 3 - 3a, 2r, 19p,

Yours very truly

Edward Milliard F.S.I.
